EOPS stands for Extended Opportunity Programs and Services. EOPS was born out of the American Civil Rights Movement and was established through California legislature on September 4th, 1969. Senate Bill 164 made EOPS a state-wide program that promises to provide services to low-income and historically underserved students that are “over, above, and in addition to” the regular educational programs of the college.

We are here to make sure our students succeed in college by providing academic support, counseling, financial aid and other supportive services to students while they are on their educational journey at Hartnell College.

EOPS SERVICES

  • 1st Tier Priority Registration

For more information about registration, including priority registration dates, please view the Registration webpage.

  • Assigned Counselors

EOPS students are assigned to a dedicated EOPS counselor based on the last two digits of their student ID number. EOPS counselors work with students to create an Educational Plan that will map out the classes they need to accomplish their educational goal. Our counselors can provide referrals to campus and community services that students may need, and are available to offer support with personal issues that may keep them from succeeding in school.

  • Book Credit

Our program assists students with the cost of textbooks by providing a Book Credit to eligible students every semester. The book credit is available for students use at the Hartnell College bookstore and may be used toward the costs of textbooks, USB drives, thesaurus and dictionaries. Students must follow the Book Credit Policy

  • Lending Library

Our students can borrow textbooks, Chromebooks and calculators for free through our office’s Lending Library. Lending Library items are released on a first come, first serve basis to our students every semester. Don’t forget to see if we have what you need before you pay for any materials out of pocket, check out the Lending Library Book Inventory! Students must follow the Lending Library Contract's Policy.
