Since Hartnell College's rapid shift to online instruction at the start of the COVID-19
pandemic in March 2020, the Hartnell Community College District has joined with all
stakeholders to restore the many benefits of face-to-face instruction and engagement.
The college is providing approximately two-thirds of all classes either fully or partially
in-person during the current Spring 2022 semester, which began on Jan. 24.
The well-being and safety of students, employees and visitors remain Hartnell’s highest
priority. On Sept. 21, 2021, the Hartnell Governing Board adopted student and employee
vaccination mandates. Incoming students are required to provide proof of full vaccination
or request a religious or medical exemption (subject to review) before they can enroll.

Hartnell continues to closely monitor the public health situation involving COVID-19. There have been zero known cases of infection at any Hartnell location, and every possible measure is being taken to ensure that continues.
Mask Wearing Strongly Recommended
Effective March 21, 2022, Hartnell lifted its requirement that everyone wear a mask indoors at all campus locations. That change was in alignment with orders by the Monterey County Health Department, following the direction of the California Department of Public Health. However, also in line with county and state guidelines, Hartnell continues to strongly recommend masks be worn by all persons in indoor public settings (classrooms, Student Center, library, etc.). Surgical masks or higher-level respirators (e.g. N95s, KN95s) with good fit are highly recommended.

Key Things to Know About COVID-19 Vaccines (CDC)
About Vaccination
Based on California Department of Public Health guidance and local considerations, all residents 5 years of age and older are eligible to be vaccinated for COVID-19. The Pfizer vaccine is authorized for individuals age 5 and older, and the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are authorized for those 18 years and older.

Student and Employee Vaccination Requirement
For the summer and fall 2022 semesters, Hartnell will continue to require that all students and employees provide proof that they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, regardless of whether they work or attend classes primarily online. This does not apply to high school Dual Enrollment (CCAP) or incarcerated students.

COVID-19 Exposure/Infection Notification by Employees and Students
Watch this Hartnell VIDEO on YouTube for an overview of steps students and employees at Hartnell College should take in case of close contact with someone who has COVID-19, experiencing COVID symptoms, and/or testing positive for COVID.
Also, please see the FAQs for information on steps to take if you are infected with COVID-19 or suspect you may be infected. Hartnell has established an email address -- covidnotification@hartnell.edu -- for notification by employees and students who have developed COVID-19 symptoms or tested positive within seven (7) days of having visited one of our campus locations. This will allow us to respond and ensure that all precautions are taken to ensure the safety of others.
COVID-19 Screening with Titan App for Employees and Students
Hartnell employees and students are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to use a COVID-19 self-screening app called Titan HST BEFORE coming on to any of its campuses. Click HERE for information on how to enroll in the Titan app and begin using it. If your answers indicate you are not at risk of the COVID infection, the screen will flash green. On the other hand, if your responses indicate there is a risk, the screen will be red, and you will be asked to contact your supervisor or instructor for guidance.
The Titan service is quite robust, with features for college-wide notification and alerts for a wide variety of emergencies, but Hartnell is adopting it now in support of our ongoing return to in-person instruction and student services despite the lingering health threat from COVID-19.
COVID-19 Testing
A provider called CovidClinic offers free PCR testing for COVID-19 to Hartnell employees, students and the public Monday-Friday on Hartnell’s Main Campus and twice-weekly at the Alisal Campus and education centers in Soledad and King City. Individuals can be tested regardless of whether they are experiencing any COVID-like symptoms.
The Main Campus testing clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located in the walkway between the Student Center (building C) and Merrill Hall (building N), near the Welcome Kiosk.
COVID testing will be offered every Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Alisal Campus and on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the King City Education Center and from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Soledad Education Center.
There is no charge, and no appointment is needed, although you will be asked to provide insurance information. However, individuals can pre-register and learn more about CovidClinic on this Hartnell-specific webpage.
Virus Geeks will continue to operate its public COVID-19 testing site in Parking Lot 4 on the Main Campus every day from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free testing requires insurance. Students and employees are encouraged to use the CovidClinic sites because they are free.

Employees: Most Hartnell employees have returned to in-person work on campuses for the Spring 2022 semester. Employees who have questions about their return to working on campus should contact their supervisor.
Hartnell employees and students are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to use the Titan self-screening app before they come onto campus. Click HERE for information on how to enroll in the Titan app and begin using it. Clear shielding has been installed in open public reception areas and around adjacent work stations throughout Hartnell facilities where staff, students and other visitors come into contact. Offices and classrooms are being regularly sanitized. Building filtration systems meet or exceed OSHA standards.

Masks are recommended but not required in shared indoor spaces and outdoors when in close contact with others. Employees who feel sick should not come to work and instead should contact their supervisor. Personal protective equipment such as N95 masks and gloves are available to employees and students upon request at the Welcome Kiosk (near the parking structure) on Main Campus or at the front offices of the Alisal Campus and education centers in Castroville, Soledad and King City.
Student instruction: Hartnell has presented approximately two-thirds of all course sections in a face-to-face format during the Spring 2022 semester, including some that have a combination of online and on-campus activity. Masks are required in all shared indoor spaces, including in classrooms.

Athletics and athletic facilities: Hartnell Athletics is maintaining near-normal activity in Spring 2022. The Hartnell
track and tennis courts are open for daytime, weekday use. Requests by organized groups
